Louise Gray Email: louise.gray@comcast.net I am a graduate from the University of Wisconsin, and I've taught art in public schools in Wisconsin and California. My husband built me a potter’s wheel so that I could pursue my love of ceramics while raising our family. When he retired I began sketching in watercolors on our frequent travels. After his untimely death, I threw myself into making art, expressing my emotions. I studied with some excellent teachers, and soon I found an eager market for my watercolor landscapes. I entered shows and competitions and received many awards. |

| I have always been attracted to the abstract/non-objective art which I saw in museums and galleries, so I decided to plunge into other water media – liquid acrylics, ink, watercolor crayons, collage, working on paper, board or canvas, creating abstract art as my focus.
Using a combination of water media, I develop varying ways of applying the paint. I am interested in the interplay of shape and movement, the interaction of colors, textures, the balance between strong gesture and delicate line. I pay attention to brush strokes. Sometimes I use glazes, or will layer colors, scratching through to what lies underneath. I have been making art for almost 20 years, and I find it very hard to stay out of my studio! |
